La Femme Theatre Production’s artistic initiatives – A Woman’s Storyland and Women on the Verge – aim to bring women’s creativity and talent center stage. In A Woman’s Storyland, new plays by budding playwrights are crafted under professional mentorship and then presented as staged Equity readings while Women On The Verge showcases emerging playwrights as well as emerging actresses, directors, and stage managers. In 2025, A Woman’s Storyland and Women On The Verge were coordinated under the umbrella of the Women In Agency Festival (WIAF).
WIAF is now an annual La Femme festival dedicated not only to incubating and presenting plays, written and directed by emerging female artists, but also to highlighting female talent. Every other year, the Festival presents new plays in curated staged readings alongside the work of an established mentor playwright. In alternate years, La Femme then selects one of those readings for development in an Equity workshop. The Women In Agency Festival joins the incubation and mentorship of the development program A Woman’s Storyland with the focused attention and promotion of the Women On The Verge initiative. Through these artistic initiatives, La Femme Theatre Productions is committed to paving the way for rising female artists.
